Nicholas Colbert & Ryan Kupniewski Jr. cashed in BIG at the 2nd Annual Weber Avenue Fishing Contest held July 7,2007at the McPond in Madison. They split a $30 cash prize. Lead Pipe poses for a picture with the two winners before passing out the cash.

The Unholy Trinity for Lead Pipe

Roger was this close to the coveted clip. But Lead Pipe locked down the Giacomo Day event and took down the Triple Crown he proudly wears in the photo above in the 3rd annual Giacomo Day Tournament.  Something must have malfunctioned on this Berger-driven web site since this isn't showing up until a month after the festivities.  It certainly isn't the fact that I'm extremely sick of poker and all of you that it took so long.  Congrats to Lead Pipe on a terrific season and to all the Giacomo Day money winners.

Lead was 1st, Roger was 2nd and I don't remember any of the other details.  Shame on you if you do.

Below is a Giacomo Day pic dump.  Enjoy.

The very deservng Knob of the Year winner, Surly Dawn.  Lead with Chef Tahoe and Lubber.  Nice row of pics for Lead right here. Very solid.

And now for the gay shots.......

Hugs for Goose and Bobby and a smaller one for Mimi

Hugs for Robbie and a very suspect facial expression while presenting an award to Josh.

Giacomo Day is Coming.....
(May 5, 2007)
Ahhh....  the pageantry, the camraderie and the pure joy that is the Weber Avenue Year End Event.  Alright, that's a lot of crap.  It really  means all the bullshit is finally over and you miserable pricks and princesses can go on about your Thursdays without stopping in and throwing away cash. You can stop making your ridiculous plays and completing your unreal suckouts and then spending hours trying to justify how great you are. Perhaps you can go out and buy a book, actually read it and, God forbid, put the knowledge into practice. Or perhaps you'll spend another summer avoiding books and confusing ignorance with a "willingness to gamble".  Either way, the time will be yours to waste as you want.  But not before one more fun-filled night of bluffs, beats and crippling river cards.
Yes, there will be awards.
Yes, there will be a Weber Ave quality steak dinner with all the fixins.
Yes, there will be a fridge filled with beer.
You can also (at your own expense) bring a dish, a dessert, a bottle, a veggie tray, anything to show Lead Pipe some appreciation for hosting all year long.
T3000 chips to start. 30 minute blind periods. $450 first place prize wih 5 total spots paid. $50 high hand jackpot. 4pm cards in the air.

Cards for the Cure

Our First charitable contribution.  We've officially arrived.

The fine folks at Weber Avenue Poker got together recently after a Thursday evening league tournament to raise some cash for "Walk for the Cure".  A friend of Pipe and Robin's is participating in the walk and is seeking to raise $2,000 by completing the 3 day walk.  Weber Ave raked a $1 per pot and will be contributing  over $300 toward that goal.  Most of your Weber Avenue heroes participated as did a few friends (PJ Insana, Greg Sidoris, Young Mike and Rinooo) from outside the league in order to contribute toward the rake.  Thanks to all who participated and donated their own funds as well.  Thanks particularly, again, to Pipe, for the idea, the facility and the seed money.

End of an era- Stardust Comes Down

Where else but in Las Vegas can you get a show like this at 2am Tuesday morning? You can watch the implosion by clicking on the link provided below. The video is courtesy of YouTube.com and was shot from the Wynn. The hotel was a frequesnt host of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack in it's prime and was considered at one time to be the ultimate in luxury and style. The video includes a classic Vegas-style farewell with fireworks and countdown.

March Knobness Tournament Shows Peeker is Top Knob..wait a second..umm..check that....
The Inaugural Weber Avenue 'March Knobness' Invitational Tournament winner was Weber Avenue's own, Peeker643. The tournament was the largest in regard to number of participants and prize money since Weber Avenue's 2004 inception. Peeker played few hands, and even fewer winning hands in the first two hours of the tournament but got enough chips with a double up through Amy to make the final table.  The final table was pared down to the 5 money winners after about 1 1/2 hours more of play.  Amy went out 5th and got her entry fee back, Lubber finished 4th and Mimi finished 3rd.  The final four didn't get to a final two for about 2 hours.  Those two were Young Mike and Peeker.  Young Mike was a few thousand chips short of Peeker but they decided to split the first and second place money to save time and save Josh who did a great job dealing. A final hand was dealt out for the trophy and Peeker's A 10 was good enough.

A few shots from the March Knobness Event:

On the 10th anniversary of Biggie's death, we played on.                 Sid arrives fashionably, and late                 Full house for March Knobness- 23 players

Two of the night's earlier casualties- But there was Jaeger              Goose running a tight ship                          Table 1 action - Pipe, Josh and the ladies

As usual, the cash game play was a bit...umm....ragged. Joe, Pipe, Peeker, Rino and Lubber made some money.  In fact, Joe made a lot of it. It was an ugly, ugly evening for Mimi, Josh and Goose. Goose had aces cracked by Joe's old four card flush and then after rebuying lost another all-in on the very next hand when Joe's aces turned a set.
Mimi's QQ lost to Lubber's 99 even after she hit her set to yet another Lubber 4 card flush.  After re-buying a bit later, she was busted again within 3 hands.

Thanks to everybody who played and made the night a successful one.  And another large "Thank You" to Lead Pipe for another outstanding evening of poker in the garage.

Weber Ave Now Offers Wi-Fi Capability!!
Are you kidding me?! Where do the improvements end?? Weber Avenue Poker now offers a wireless internet connection. The connection is currently available to executive board members only, but consideration is being given to offering the service to all Weber Avenue Poker guests for a nominal connection charge.
Weber Ave league members saw the benefit of the connection last Thursday when the league experimented with an internet-based tournament clock and director.  Short of a spa or steam room, I'm not sure what more could possibly be added to upgrade the facility. But we're always looking.

March Knobness Tourney Sold Out!

Some people just know how to run and promote a tournament. That certainly appears to be the case with your Weber Avenue Executive Board, as for the second month in a row, they have sold off all 22 seats for their monthly gathering of losers, idiots and fools.

So, if you delayed with your response and you really wan to play Saturday night, well.... that's a bad beat for you. Get on Board early for next month's "April Foolishness" extravaganza.

Happy 30th Birthday Amy!

Weber Ave lost it's last twenty year-old player last night when Amy turned the big "3 OHHHHHHH".  I'm told there was a gala event at Marinko's Firehouse in Willoughby Hills that featured food, Weber Ave celebrities and, in all likelihood, alcohol. In fact, I may or may not have received a voice mail message inviting me to wager on the number of shots drank by the birthday girl by 10pm.  In any event, Happy Birthday Amois. Weber Ave wishes the 'Queen of the Fuggit Call' (never more evident than when you said yes to Eric) a happy 30th and wishes her at least 30 more. Errr....  You know what we mean.

"Surly Temple (aka "Flash Walters") Wins First Ever Knob of the Week Award (The KWA)

"Surly" Dawn Walters ran away with the voting in Weber Avenue's first web vote for Knob of the Week.  Dawn accumulated twice as many votes as her nearest competitor.  You know what they say:  "You can't win them all if you don't win the first one." Good luck Dawn.  Lubber, there's always this week or next.

We Have A Winner!

CONGRATULATIONS BELINDA!!!

With 48% of the votes, Belinda Carlisle is our winner.  Terri Nunn of Berlin took 2nd place with 33% of the votes, and Susanna Hoffs picked up 19% of the votes.  Thanks to all who voted!

Congrats To Weber Ave Super Bowl Squares Winners

Some would say that the Colts were the winners last night, but as you know, the real winners were those who cashed in on the Weber Avenue Poker Super Bowl Squares.  With some of the most skillful picking of completely random squares on the board, the Bergers were the big winners, cashing in 3 out of the 4 quarters, including the big money squares for Halftime and Final Score.  Weber Ave CIO, Eric Berger, won the first quarter, and then held on for the halftime cash, thanks to a rare Vinatieri missed field goal at the end of the half.

Simon White grabbed the third quarter prize.

When all was said and done, it was Amy Berger who picked up the Final Score square to grab the big prize.  This seemed like a fitting end to her weekend after the horrible run of luck she ran into at the WAGDISP.  First, her "a--hole" husband unceremoniously crippled her at the final table after he picked off her stone-cold bluff at a crucial point in the tourney.  After that, as she had seemingly recovered from that "Bad Beat," she had the terrible misfortune of meeting up with a hooded, Elvis-looking rounder, name of Lead Pipe, at the Limit table.  Try as she might, she couldn't get her money in good, as he read her like her cards were face-up for the rest of the evening.  With the Square cash, she should have enough cheddar to replenish her bankroll, then pick up one of those new books on the intricacies and nuances of Limit Hold 'Em.  It's time to replace that manual she's been reading that touts the "Any Two Cards" system - that was so last season.

Williard Walters Wins Wacky WAGDISP

Wiiliard Walters, of the famous "Poker Playing Walters", won the inaugural WAGDISP event at Weber Avenue this past Saturday night.  Walters, despite constant nagging from his crabby wife, ran away with the event, entering heads-up play with about a 12-1 chip lead. Heads-up lasted all of one hand with Williard's AJ holding up against Peeker's A8.  Gary Lynce finished 3rd, Pipe was 4th and Lubber got his entry fee back by finishing in fifth position.

21 players teed it up in a well heated Weber Avenue garage on a 4 degree night and the Board of Directors thanks all of those who played the tournament.  Some nutty side action followed until 430am.  Some reports indicate that the Walters, despite winning the tournament, broke about even on the evening. I will say it was a very easy night for the banker after he processed the buy-ins. The reason is that only about 3 people actually visited the cage to cash out.  Josh had a nice night playing 1/2NL and 1/2 limit. Pipe showed a nice profit as well in limit action only.  Mimi was able to make it back from Detroit in time to play the tourney and the cash games and continued her impressive play in the 1/2NL game.  You can see a few photos snapped at the event by visiting the Photo Gallery page.

The next event is already tentatively set for March 10, 2007.   You can check the Upcoming Events section for all the details on the "March Knobness" tournament.

  2007 WSOP Schedule Released

http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/news/fullstory.sps?inewsid=393478&itype=&iCategoryID=1514

Click on the attached link for a schedule of all the events. Due to the possibility that one or more members of Weber Avenue Poker may try their hand at an event or two, the trip that was planned for early July may be moved ahead a month. That June 2nd NL Holdem event for $1000 may capture the interest of a  player or two.  Naturally, after you win that you'll have the cash to plunk down on a main event ticket. Moving the trip up would likely mean no Gaming Life Expo but I believe there are other things in Vegas to fill in the void. We can discuss interest at the weekly knobfest.
